Tinting your eyebrows can seriously improve your look ! We all want to look our best with and without makeup, and if you find yourself constantly filling in your brows or wishing your hairs were darker, then tinting your brows is the perfect option!
What is Eyebrow Tinting?
Eyebrow tinting is applying a semi-permanent dye to darken the hairs of your brows. Tinting your brows help to define them and make the hairs stand out so that you don’t have to fill them in everyday.
Tinting your eyebrows at home is cheaper than going to a salon and is super easy to do.
Materials needed to Tint your eyebrows
To tint your eyebrows at home you will need:
- Eyebrow tint
- Oxidant Cream 3% (to mix with the eyebrow tint)
- Cotton Swabs
- Lip brush or small eyeshadow brush (to apply the tint)
- Small dish to mix the tint and oxidant cream (ex. shot glass, water bottle cap)
- Cotton Rounds
Eyebrow Tinting Tip:
The best eyebrow tint to use is RefectoCil. It is a natural vegetable based tint that is gentle on the skin and eyebrow hairs. You can buy it on Amazon: RefectoCil Eyebrow Tint $18
For the best results you should mix two colours together. I always like to mix graphite and medium natural brown. Together these colours give your brow hairs a beautiful cool-toned medium brown.
How to tint your eyebrows: Step by Step
Step 1: Prep your Brows
Make sure your eyebrows are free of any makeup and clean. Wipe them off with a gentle cleansing oil and then dry them off. Then, brush them with a spoolie so that the hairs are neat and tidy.
Step 2: Mix your eyebrows tint
Mix in a small container, you can use a shot glass, a water bottle cap or any small dish-like object that you think would work well to mix your tint.
You are going to mix the RefectoCil tint with the RefectoCil Oxidant Cream. You want to mix one parts tint with two parts of the oxidant cream.
For the best colour results mix either medium brown or light brown with the graphite colour. This will ensure that you achieve a natural, cool toned eyebrow colour.
3. Apply the Tint
After you’ve mixed the solution together until smooth, apply it to your eyebrows with the lip brush or eyeshadow brush (whichever your choose to apply it with) and make sure you completely saturate every hair.
4. Set your Timer
The longer you leave the tint on for, the darker it will be. If you only want your brows a shade darker than only leave the tint on for two minutes. If you want medium darkness then you can leave the tint on for 3-5 minutes. For even darker results, leave the tint on for 7-8 minutes. You can always remove the tint with a cotton swab to check the level of darkness and put it back on to achieve a darker look as well.
5. Remove the tint
Now it’s time to remove the tint and see the results!
Remove the tint with a dry cotton round NO WATER. The tint will still process a little after removing it from the eyebrow hairs, which is what you will want and why you don’t want to remove with water.
